Hi, I’m Aimee Mayer and in late 2009 I will be leaving England for a whole year to teach English as a foreign language in a state school in Thailand.
I am currently studying for my A2 Levels in Business Studies, ICT and Media Studies, and an AS in Photography at Bushfield Community College. After sixth form (and my gap year of course!), I will be going to university for a further 3/4 years to study Media Production. My dream is to climb my way to the top of the Media ladder, eventually settling into a director’s chair!
As well as this, I am currently working two part time jobs to fund my gap year and university afterwards.
I’m a huge fan of the Japanese culture and its mix of traditional and modern features. Another ambition of mine would be to live there or at least visit for a little while. Because of my love for Japanese culture, I have also become a fan of anime, manga and more recently, J-Horror (Japanese Horror films), and have started to teach myself Japanese as a secondary language.
The Spread The Words blog follows my journey through Selection, Fundraising and my gap year afterwards, and the ups and downs along the way. If you would like to sponsor my teaching experience, then please visit my JustGiving page (and don’t forget; no donation is ever too small).
I am readily available to discuss my future plans and on behalf of the Project Trust charity should you like any more information. My contact details are available below.
Thank you for all the support; be sure to tell your friends!
